Neljapäeval 27. augustil kell 18.30 avatakse Tartu Kunstimaja monumentaalgaleriis Diana Tamane kolmas lähisuhete teemaline isiknäitus “Puudutuse tüpoloogia”.

Tamane on viimased üheksa aastat elanud oma perekonnast eemal ning see füüsiline ja emotsionaalne vahemaa on muutunud tema kunsti keskseks teemaks. Oma lõputööprojektis lisas ta lähisugulaste portreedele ilmekaid absurdseid detaile, asetades seeläbi vaataja lugude jutustaja positsiooni. Ühe perekonna loost sai iga külastaja personaalne kogemus. Seejärel kasutas Tamane vanade füüsilist lähedust kujutavate fotode kadreerimist puudutuse anonüümseks muutmiseks, selle jagamiseks.
Seekordsel väljapanekul on kesksel kohal kestvusprojekt “Perekonnaportree”, milles kohtuvad nelja põlvkonna naised. Vaikiv kohalolu on Tamane lahendus pikkadele eemalolekutele. Vaikus väldib ka vaidlusi. Vaikuses säilivad vaid tunded. Antud tööle vastanduvad kaks puudutust – üks lähedaseim võimalikest ja teine vaid näiline kohalolu. Kumb neist on aga õige lahendus aastaid kestnud eemalolekule?
Tamane ise võtab näituse kokku sõnadega: “Mind huvitab see, mis on purunenud või tarvitamiskõlbmatuks muutunud, huvitavad ebamugavad vakatused ja lüngad kommunikatsioonis.” Tema emagi hoiatab: “Ära sõltu emotsionaalselt teistest inimestest.” Seega on ainuke võimalus olla eemal.
Diana Tamane sündis 1986. aastal Riias. Tänu õpingutele Tartu Kõrgema Kunstikooli fotograafia osakonnas (2006–2012) saab teda püsivalt seostada Eesti kunstieluga. Viimastel aastatel on ta õpinguid jätkanud LUCA Kunstikoolis Brüsselis ning HISKis Gentis, kus alustab sel sügisel ka teist residentuuriaastat. Tamane on oma töödes uurinud peamiselt lähisuhteid ning mälu. Tartus on tal varem toimunud Y galeriis kaks isiknäitust (“From My Family Album” 2012 ja sama seeria teine näitus 2013) ning eelmisel aastal oli Brüsselis avatud näitus “You Can’t Have Me For Real”. Ta on osalenud erinevatel grupinäitustel Eestis, Lätis ja Belgias.
Esmaspäeval 31. augustil kell 17.30 toimub vestlus kunstnikuga. Vestlus on inglise keeles.

Diana Tamane’s exhibition “Typology of Touch” in Tartu Art House.
On Thursday 27th of August at 18.30 Diana Tamane’s “Typology of Touch” will be opened in the monumental gallery of Tartu Art House. It is her third personal exhibition talking about close relationships.
For the last nine years, Tamane has been living away from her family – it is this physical and emotional distance that has become central to her works. In her graduation project she included absurd but expressive details in the portraits of her relatives whereby she turned every viewer into a narrator. The story of one family became a personal experience for every visitor. In the next show Tamane framed details from old photos depicting physical closeness and converted a touch into something anonymous, sharing it with everybody.
The central work of the present exhibition is the continuing project “Family Portrait” where the women of four generations meet. The quiet presence is Tamane’s answer to long absences. Silence avoids arguments. Silence contains only emotions. This work is complemented by two touches – one that is as close as possible and another that merely depicts presence. But which of these is the correct solution to all the years spent apart?
Tamane herself says, “I am interested in what is broken and not functional anymore as well as in awkward silences and gaps within the communication.” Her mother adds, “Don’t let yourself depend on people emotionally.” Therefore the only possibility is to stay away.
Diana Tamane was born in 1986 in Riga. Due to her studies at the Photography Department of Tartu Art College (2006–2012) she has become a permanent fixture in Estonian art life. Over the last years she has continued her studies at the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels and HISK is Gent where she will also start her second year of residency this autumn. Tamane has mainly worked with close relationships and memory. In Tartu, she has previously had two personal exhibitions at the Y Gallery (“From My Family Album” 2012 and the second part of the series in 2013). Last year in Brussels she had the exhibition “You Can’t Have Me For Real”. She has also taken part in various group exhibitions in Estonia, Latvia and Brussels.
On Monday 31st of August at 17.30 there will be a talk with the artist that will be held in English.
