Neljapäeval, 15. veebruaril kell 17 avatakse Tartu Kunstimaja monumentaalgaleriis maalijate Martin Urbi ja Liisi Ördi ühisnäitus „Fragment 5.10”.
Ateljeed ja igapäevaelu jagava kunstnikepaari esimene ühisnäitus on loodud võrdsetelt stardipositsioonidelt: erinevad inimesed üle maailma on ühel ja samal päeval pildistanud ühe (juhusliku) hetke oma elust, mille kunstnikud on seejärel endale sobivas tehnikas lõuendile kandnud. Urbi maalidel on silutud ja pehmendatud hüperrealism, mis fragmentaarse ja igapäevase algsisendi puhul võimaldab kogetu võimalikult neutraalset edasi andmist. Ördi puhul näivad need samad momendid ta pastoosset värviilma lausa kammitsevat, kuid kokkuvõttes pääseb ta isikupäraselt nauditav pintslikiri siiski esile.
Autorid kirjeldavad valmimisprotsessi järgnevalt: „Kunstnik annab ohjad käest, laseb hetke fragmendil dikteerida teose. Ta loobub oma silmadest, oma isikust, ning usaldab teiste kogemust. Need võõrad tajufragmendid korjatakse kokku, kunstnik kogeb need omakorda läbi ja loob teose.”
Martin Urb (snd 1981) on õppinud aastatel 2004–2008 Tartu Kõrgema Kunstikooli maalingute osakonnas ning lõpetas mullu Tartu Ülikooli maaliosakonna magistrantuuri. Peamiselt mootorite maailma maalingutega seotud kunstnikul on toimunud isikunäitus Eesti Rahvusraamatukogus Tallinnas ning ta on osalenud grupinäitustel nii Tartus kui ka Pärnus.
Liisi Örd (snd 1984) on omandanud Tartu Ülikooli maaliosakonnast nii bakalaureuse (2009) kui ka magistri kraadi (2011). Näitustel osaleb alates 2007. aastast. Tema esimene isikunäitus Tartu Kunstimajas toimus juba 2009. aastal ning vahest enim on meelde jäänud kunstniku võimsalt abstraktne lõputööde väljapanek Tartu Peetri kirikus 2011. aastal.

On Thursday, 15 February at 17.00 painters Martin Urb and Liisi Örd will open their joint exhibition “Fragment 5.10” in the monumental gallery of the Tartu Art House.
The first joint exhibition of the artist duo, who share their studio and everyday life, starts from an equal starting position: different people across the world have taken photos on the same day of a (random) moment in their life that the artists have then transferred to the canvas using their preferred techniques. Urb’s paintings use smoothed and softened hyperrealism that is capable of mediating the experiences of the fragmentary everyday input in as neutral manner as possible. Although these same qualities seem to restrain Örd’s thick and abstract palette, her individual and enjoyable brushstrokes break through and offer a nuanced counterbalance to realistic depiction.
The authors describe their creative process: „The artists hand over the reins and let the fragments dictate their work. For a moment, they will give up their own eyes, their personality, and trust the experience and perception of others. These fragments are then collected, the artist experiences them once again and create works of art.”
Martin Urb (b 1981) has studied in 2004–2008 in the painting department of the Tartu Art College and graduated in 2017 with a master’s degree from the painting department of the University of Tartu. Although his professional activities have mostly been associated with the world of motor vehicles, Urb has had a personal exhibition in the National Library of Estonian and has participated in group exhibitions in Tartu and in Pärnu.
Liisi Örd (b 1984) has a bachelor’s (2009) and a master’s degree (2011) from the painting department of the University of Tartu. She has participated in exhibitions from 2007. Her first personal exhibition in the Tartu Art House took place already in 2009 and her most distinguished project thus far has probably been the large abstract canvases painted in 2011 for the space of the St Peter’s church in Tartu as part of her 2011 graduation project.
