Esmaspäevast, 3. maist on Tartu Kunstimaja väikeses saalis avatud Siim Elmersi isikunäitus „Seniit“.
Igal kevadel, kui lumi sulama hakkab ja ilm halliks pöörab, tean, et varsti tuleb päike. Märtsis ja aprillis on päike eriti ere ja kõrvetav. Sulanud lume ja põletava päikese koosmõjul tekib aeg, mil kogu maailm näib mattuvat tolmukihi alla. Jääb mulje nagu oleks maailm ära pleekinud.
Päike mõjutab kõike, valgus on halastamatu jõud. Kivid murenevad, puit pudeneb, teras korrodeerub, plastik nõrgeneb. Päikese teele jääb harva asju, millest ta jagu ei saa. Paber pole erand. Kasutades läätse, saavutasin tulemuse, mida otsisin. Kontsentreeritud kujul on päikesekiired nii kuumad, et põletavad. Mina kontrollin läätse, aga päike seab piirangud. Mõni päev on ere, teisel päeval pean punkti põletamiseks seisma õues tunde. Mõni nädal on pilvine, ei saagi töötada. Päike dikteerib mu tööd.
Siim Elmers (snd 1997) lõpetas eelmisel aastal Eesti Kunstiakadeemia installatsiooni ja skulptuuri osakonna. 2017. aastal pärjati teda Noore Skulptori Preemiaga (koos Johannes Luigega). Tegu on tema esimese isikunäitusega.
Näitus on avatud 22. maini. Selle aja jooksul on Tartu Kunstimaja avatud iga päev kell 12.00–18.00

From Monday, 3 May Siim Elmers’s solo exhibition “Zenith” will be open in the small gallery of the Tartu Art House.
Each spring, when the snow starts to thaw and the weather turns grey, I know, that soon the sun will come. In March and April, it is especially bright and scorching. The molten snow and burning sun in unison create a time when the whole world appears to be buried under a layer of dust. It seems like everything has faded.
The sun influences everything and light has a merciless power. Stones crumble, wood chips, steel corrodes, plastic fails. Not much can stand up to the sun and paper is not an exception. Using a lens I achieved what I was aiming for: in their concentrated form, the rays of the sun are so hot that they burn. I control the lens but the sun sets its own limitations. Some days are bright, but on others I have to stand outside for hours to burn a dot. Some weeks are cloudy and I cannot work at all. The sun dictates my work.
Siim Elmers (b 1997) graduated last year from the Department of Installation and Sculpture of the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2017, he was awarded the grand prix of the Young Sculptor Award (with Johannes Luik). This is his first solo exhibition.
The exhibition will remain open until 22 May. During this time, the Tartu Art House is open every day 12–18.
